I am Larry Downing, President and CEO of Downing Sales & Service, Inc. Prior to starting in the waste industry, I was in the US Marine Corps. My area of expertise was truck driving. In addition, I spent four years in the engineering field working for Missouri Public Service Company in the Kansas City area, as well as the Missouri Water Company.

I have been involved in the waste industry for more than 35 years; first as a salesman, then as a business owner. After starting business in the waste industry in 1973, I had a number of things to learn, including the service side of the business. While still in the equipment business, we started a trash hauling business. I understand the importance of parts, service technicians, and mobile repair availability to keep your equipment up and running for daily routes, so you are not continually working on trucks and trying to locate parts.

Downing Sales & Service, Inc. was started June 1, 1982 at our present location. Since our inception, we have grown from a 2 person operation to 18 employees. Our parts department has grown from just a few hundred dollars worth of parts to over a million dollars worth of inventory kept in stock at all times; attended by two full-time employees.

Our service department has grown to six full-time technicians who are capable of repairing any brand of trash collection equipment. Our service department has two mobile repair units to repair equipment at your location.

Our sales department has four full time sales technicians as well as one sales representative who specializes in compactors, balers and containers.

We have four full time employees who work in the office and can help you with your equipment needs such as: containers, chassis, refuse and recycling bodies. They can help you at a moments notice.

Combined experience of more than 200 years either in trash hauling, selecting the correct type of equipment for you the Customer or servicing the equipment. We are equipped to take care of your service needs in a prompt and reliable fashion.

Anyone can sell equipment. However, servicing it is another matter.
